HOT June 30th.
Hot to Hotter.
For the best part of June we've had August like temperatures but now they're set to go even higher.
With temperatures this high, its very important that you drink lots of water, but make sure its bottled water from the supermarket, not from the tap. Its especially important if you've been out partying and even more so if you've popped any pills or powdered your nose. Don't forget to limit your stays on the beach to short ones as well. Sunlight blinds us to the colour red, which is why you don't see how burnt you're getting until you get back to your hotel, by which time its too late!
GaySitges.com at Pride Barcelona June 29th.
GaySitges.com @ pride barcelona
What a wonderful day yesterday turned out to be, thanks much to the organisers and volunteers of Pride Barcelona who were a super friendly crowd. The weather was great, the atmosphere was great and the people were great, but greatest of all was the super stud we had on show - he caused quite the buzz. You'll be seeing a lot more of him here - in fact, we did a photo shoot with him last week and we'll have photos of that here for you very soon. Also the Super Studess, who got the girls going and the charming Lady Linda who had her own following!
Anyway, here's some photos of yesterday and here's a gallery of photos. We'll have more pics of the parade soon.
Watch for us in SITGES GAY PRIDE in 2010. Yesterday was like a try out for us and it went better than we could have hoped for - they bumped us up from 2nd from last place to the middle of the parade!!! Guess they liked the look of us :-) We'll be even bigger and better next year!
PS. If you were one of the millions taking photos of us, can you please send us photos? Email

Today is the Barcelona Gay Pride parade, starting at 6pm.
We've kept it a well guarded secret, but now we can reveal that
GaySitges.com has a float in the parade!
Hope to see you all there for a great fun day. Watch out for us and wave!

SITGES
GAY PRIDE
JULY 9th. 10th. 11th.
2010
June 27th.
Pride Barcelona 2009 & Pride Sitges 2010.
With Barcelona Gay Pride Day coming up tomorrow, the dates for Sitges Gay Pride in 2010 have been officially released, in time to let everyone attending Barcelona Pride know that Sitges is getting its first Gay Pride next year. The dates for Sitges Gay Pride are July 9th, 10th & 11th of July 2010. The parade will be on Saturday 10th.
We guarantee you will not be able to find accommodation in Sitges for those 3 days if you don't get it booked very soon. So to make sure you are in with a chance, we have already prepared a special page for you which tells you the best hotels to stay in to be right in on the action.
ACCOMMODATION SPECIAL
Mojito and Co. June 26th.
Yet another Parrot lands in Sitges!
It opened a couple of days ago, called Mojito & Co. Its right next to Parrots Pub where the glasses shop used to be, and it is a very nice looking cocktail bar. Its yet another Parrots empire addition to Sitges.
On the subject of new bars, we've got an opening date for the new Queenz bar for you - July 17th. It promises to be a real fun place with some very sexy boyz serving you behind the bar and at long last drag shows in English in Sitges! Dick's planing a spectacular opening night, so make sure you mark it in your diary now. See the Bars page.
Oh and here's a nice surprise that I'm sure I can't get banned from anywhere for mentioning ;-) - Organic Club have dropped their beer price from 7€ to 5€.
The King is dead. Long live the King. Michael Jackson has died at age 50.
GBP Atlantida Sitges June 25th.
GBP.
Tonight is the first Gay Beach Party of the 2009 summer season at atlàntida disco. See the Discos page for details.
Sitges San Juan June 24th.
El día de San Juan.
Woah! I really ain't sure what's going on this year but something sure is. I've seen San Juan a ton of times but I've never seen him like last night...that is, I've never seen the Spanish party so hard on that night. The beaches were as busy by night as they are by day. The fireworks were more frequent than they could down their Coca and it all lead to yet another all night fiesta - something the Spanish are so damned good at! Next year I'm gonna have June 23rd/24th marked down as a major attraction in Sitges because it really is turning out to be one. The good 'ol Sitgetans have found themselves yet another excuse to party hard. I am not kidding you lads, Sitges has gone wild this year, and you all know I wouldn't say it if I didn't mean it. Sitges is rising up from the grave it was digging itself into!
Sant Joan June 23rd.
Flaming hot Midsummer.
Although tomorrow is Sant Joan, tonight is when all the fireworks are let off and bonfires lit. There's a big firework display up at Plaça Catalunya, north of the railway tracks, but there will also be lots of fireworks being let off all along the beach front, well into the early hours of the morning.
Especially in Catalonia and València, Coca is also served this evening. (Its food, not what you're thinking!)
Sant Joan - Catalan.
San Juan - Spanish.
St John - English.
June 22nd.
Summer is here.
Although its now summer, we've already been experiencing August like temperatures for the last two weeks and the fabulous weather is set to continue. From now until the end of September you can pretty much guarantee sunshine and very warm temperatures all the way, with maybe the odd thunder storm thrown in to freshen things up a bit, though even they have been quite rare for the last several years.
The @ in Seville!
Nothing to do with anything really, but I just came across a little trivia that surprised me...did you know the first known appearence of the @ sign, which is so familiar to all of us now, happened in Seville in a letter in 1536? In Spanish its called an 'arroba' which is a measurment equal to approximately 11 kg in weight or 11 litres in volume. In the 1536 letter it was used as a measurment of wine.
Privilege, Sitges June 21st.
Strange weekend.
After a really packed Friday & Saturday last weekend, this weekend was a bit quiet. We popped into Oreks, it was busy but not packed, B-Side was quiet, Mediterraneo was empty, Bourbons was busy though, but not quite what we were all looking for, so we decided to check out Privilege and it turned out that that was where everyone was! If you've not tried Privilege, you really should. Always a very attractive crowd, excellent music and a packed dance floor.
Rugby Sitges June 20th.
Rugby Sitges.
Sitges Rugby club had their 15th championship meeting down on Fragata beach today. Went down to watch for a while. Great atmosphere and lots of hunky men.

Getting Sitges name out there June 19th.
Gaz is getting Sitges out there more.
Continuing from Wednesday, we also have GayIberia.com which also has a Sitges advert on its main page. The following is the break down of where its 15,000 (500 daily) visitors have come from over the last 30 days.
Blue = USA 23.06%
Green = Spain 15.30%
Orange = UK 7.58%
Yellow = Germany, Light blue = France, Light green = Canada, etc. 26.25%
Gray = Other countries 27.81%
Add Wednesday's and today's together and that's 1,300 visitors a day or 39,000 a month, and that doesn't include the 400 a day GaySitges.com is getting itself, nor GayBarcelona.com's 450 a day, which also advertises Sitges on its main page.
SITGES
GAY PRIDE
June 18th.
Its looking very good for Sitges Gay Pride in 2010.
A meeting was held with the Mayor of Sitges and he is keen on the idea of holding the first ever Gay Pride parade in Sitges in 2010, most likely in early July.
The proposed route is from Avenida de Sofia where the stalls will be, traveling along Passeig de la Ribera to the church and then back to Avenida Sofia.
We'll keep you informed of new developments.
Getting Sitges name out there June 17th.
Gaz is getting Sitges out there.
A local business owner said to me the other day; "I like to support those that get Sitges name out there" - meaning out in the world for new people to discover, and it occured to me, I wonder if he or many others in Sitges even realise how much we are getting Sitges name out there with TheGayStation.com, which currently gets 800 visitors a day from 138 countries and has a big advert for Sitges right on the main page. The graph on the left shows the breakdown of where its 24,000 visitors over the last 30 days have come from.
Blue = USA 33.00%
Green = Japan 14.35%
Orange = UK 11.38%
Yellow = Germany, Light blue = Canada, Light green = France, etc. 18.32%
Gray = Other countries 22.95%
Parrots, Sitges June 16th.
Sweaty Sitges.
We've been having super hot August like weather of late, around 32ºC (90ºF), and the high temperatures are set to remain for at least the rest of this week. Great to see all those boys out in their shorts. Seems quite a few are reverting back to tight shorts too. About time!!
Don't forget the best crotch watching spot in Sitges is Parrots Pub, especially early evening when the talent is coming off the beach and strutting their stuff up Sin Street.
Bourbons Bar, Sitges June 15th.
Crisis what Crisis?
Wherever this crisis they're telling us we're in is, it is not in Sitges judging by the bars this weekend. Everywhere we went was packed solid. In fact, we took one of the old favorite circuits - starting at Bar 7, where you couldn't move, going on to Bourbons which was wall to wall men, then on to a packed Mediterraneo, followed by a packed Orek's and finally Trailer was the busiest I've seen it in years.
As you regular readers know, I've been saying for months that Gay Sitges seems to be making a come back, and considering we're still only in mid June, and the bars are already heaving, it looks like I may even have underestimated what a bumper summer it will be. ¡VIVA SITGES!

Platjador Hotel, Sitges June 11th.
Platjador Hotel.
We're giving this hotel a plug today because of all the hotels in Sitges, we've heard more good things about this one than any other. The price is good for starters. The food is apparently excellent. The location couldn't be better - on the seafront just a drinken stumble away from the bars. The staff are friendly, its clean and it has a fantastic roof top terrace bar/restaurant that overlooks all of Sitges. More details
El Piano bar has its opening party tonight. Pop along from 9pm to 11pm for a free cava.
Atlantida disco, Sitges June 10th.
L'Atlàntida opens this Saturday 13th.
Opening for the summer 2009 season, however the first Gay Beach Party doesn't kick off until June 25th. See the Discos page for the 2009 GBP dates.
Corpus Cristi June 9th.
Corpus Cristi this Sunday 14th.
The 57th flower carpet festival, Corpus Cristi is coming up this Sunday. The streets of Sitges are carpeted with flowers, each street with a different design. Fingers crossed its not a wash out like last year. The forecast is looking good for sunshine.
Margarita Beachfront restaurant (No large image) June 8th.
Great British Breakfast.
Miss that lovely British back bacon? Those tasty English sausages? A good old English breakfast fry up with all the trimmings? No problem, Margarita Beachfront Restaurant has it all. You can even sit outside on their lovely terrace and soak up the sun as you drool over it.
Trailer Disco June 7th.
Sombody tow that damned Trailer away!
If it weren't for that Trailer at the bottome end of the street, get home at a half decent hour on a Sunday morning.
Not quite sure what's going on this year but again last night it was packed solid, and its still only early June - who's/what's come to town?
Before that, hit Bar 7 which as always was ringin' the bell, "Gracias"', then Piano which although still under construction was open and is bigger, though not as bigger as I'd expected, but still has the exact same atmosphere :-)
Orek's too was great, with some faces I haven't seen in Sitges in years, so something must be attracting them back too.
Now I'm even more convinced that Sitges is making a big come back, just as I told you it would earlier in the year, but what's great about it is, its the 'real' Sitges we all used to love so much - I for one am very happy to see the 'about' turn this place is taking.  :-)
Advertising June 6th.
Advertiser revision.
Just in case you hadn't noticed this last week, I am going to continue accepting most advertisers, but not accommodation advertisers since that has become a conflict of interest, since you can now book many of the hotels in Sitges directly from GaySitges.com (At excellent rates by the way). I've changed my mind (a queens prerogative) because the current advertisers all got on their hands and knees begging to give me a.....oops, almost went off track there.....begging me to keep them on, especially in these hard times. I did however make it very clear to each one of them that I will not be bound in any way (Except hand-cuffs or panty hose). If they like what I have to say in this blog, great. If they don't, tough tities.
GaySitges.com is about Sitges, not about who pays me to publisise them, though of course it does get them more frequent mentions here - that's only fair.
DSB
Definately not a
Dark Sitges Bar
June 5th.
Dark but not Dark.
Just to remind you of a lovely new bar in Sitges - Dark, or DSB (Dark Sitges Bar).
Don't be mislead by the name though, its not at all what you'd expect from a bar of that name. On the contrary, its a cool, stylish bar with nice lighting effects. See the Bars page for details.
PS. Apparently many have suggested they change their name.
Piano playing.
The Piano bar IS opening tonight at 9pm!!!
Official opening party next Thursday, 11th.

Hot Sitges June 1st.
Oh my god!
Just got up and realised its June!
Talking about May, I can honestly say that that was the busiest May I have seen in many a year. Even though we are in the depth of the 'crisis' from hell, May has saved some of our lives. Don't say I didn't tell ya this year was gonna be good in Sitges. You just have to back blog a bit to see I said it, but not only is it already turning out to be an exceptional year, the cute factor has gone though the roof! Honest to god, I have seen some of the cutest guys I've ever seen in Sitges in just this last week. Either that or these beer goggles are working damned great!!!
PS. Unfortunately I didn't have my camera with me last night. I really wish I had, but C'est la vie, or however its spelt. Best pic I can find right now is the one on the left. Love those shorts...off!
