Trailer disco, Sitges May 31st.
Better late than never.
The blog is a bit late today and I blame it all on Trailer disco. If it wasn't for the fact it was full of the most gorgeous looking guys you've ever seen, I would have got home much earlier, but I think I rolled in around 6am. I tell ya, I thought I'd died and gone to Heaven!
Last night reminded me of the good old days in Sitges. The atmosphere was great, the guys were stunning and the place was rocking.
Monroes breakfast.
From tomorrow morning Monroes is open for breakfast. I'll tell you more about that tomorrow, but right now I've gotta hit the sack again. Hasta mañana chicos.
Bar 7 Queens May 30th.
Heaving.
Only made it as far as Bar 7 and Orek's last night, but if they were anything to go by, the town is heaving. Both were full to the brim, which was really surprising for May. Had the sort of crowd you'd expect in July & August, let alone in May in the middle of a 'crisis'.
I have said a few times that I think Sitges will ride out the storm better than most, and it is certainly looking that way :-)
Poppers Banned May 29th.
Flippin' heck!
What do I know about football except the Barça players are damned cute and there's always a party in sitges after they win anything. Last night wasn't the European cup final, it was the Championship League final. Thanks C for pointing that out.
Poppers have now been banned in Spain. You can't get 'em in the bars or sex shops now, so you'd better bring your own. Don't forget to bring some to pass around/sell too! ;-)
Still no Piano playing. Opening of the Piano Bar has been set back again to June 2nd, with the opening party June 4th. (9pm) Should we hold our breath now?
Street party in Cap de la Vila, Sitges May 28th.
Street parties.
There could be no doubt in anyone's mind in Sitges who won the European cup final last night. There were street parties and fireworks all over town.
Oh and just incase you don't know, Barcelona beat Manchester United 2-0.

New in Sitges May 27th.
New this year.
A reminder for you today of what's new for you this year.
Opened early this year, Bar Amure. A cosy, friendly bar that opens early in the evening and has become quite a popular meeting spot.
Another new bar is the Dark Bar. Despite its name, its not all the dark but is a cool addition to Sitges. Its certainly the 'trendiest' looking gay bar in Sitges now.
Coming in early July (anticipated), what promises to be Sitges most 'stylish' gay bar, Queens Bar right next to Organic Disco. An opulent addition to Sitges gay scene.
Piano Bar, Sitges May 26th.
El Piano delayed further.
I spoke to Wayne from the Piano bar yesterday and he said the opening has been delayed a little longer, until this Friday 29th at 9pm. (We hope!)
No favouritism at GaySitges.com
I want to make it perfectly clear that in this guide, there is no favouritism. I try to mention everyone. Sure, I have my favourite places and some I don't like. There's even people I like and others I don't, but what I never do is let my personal likes and dislikes get in the way of running this guide. If I did, some would get mentioned all the time, while others equally as good, never got a mention.
Obviously, the better a business keeps me informed of what they're up to, the more mentions they're likely to get. (Did you hear that businesses?). Also the places you tell me you like the most are likely to come out tops. Come to think of it, hows about dropping me a line to tell me where you like and why? Email
Windy Sitges May 25th.
Down draught?
What was that down at the seafront yesterday? I left home, in the centre of town in perfectly calm weather, got to the seafront and there was a storm blowing. All the sand blowing up off the beach, the palm trees bending over, everyone ducking to avoid everything that was flying through the air, then it was calm again. Seems even the weather is throwing little tantrums this week!

Thank you!
Thanks guys, for your support of my comments in May 22nd's blog. I knew if there was anyone I could count on, it would be my readers, and sure enough, in came your emails of support, but as I've noticed in myself, you too have noticed I'm being compromised, and I'm not happy with that.
I know not everyone is going to agree with how I run this web site or even like it, that's perfectly natural and I expect that, but what made it so popular in the past is the fact that I always told it like it is, not like others would have me tell it.
I refuse to insult your intelligence by making out that Sitges is something it is not. Yes its a wonderful place. Yes its tons of fun. Yes its beautiful and Yes, I love it, but after all is said and done, its still a village, and everyone knows everyone and everyone knows what's going on, good and bad.
Today I've been praised for my comments of the 22nd, but equally, I've been in trouble for some things I've written, but that only goes to prove they're being read!
Someone called me a "Sandman" (I needed to look it up in the dictionary) last year because I bragged that this site was getting a staggering 800 visitors a day, (A figure even I found hard to believe), but it actually was. That figure has more than halved this year because I know you know its not coming from my heart anymore and half the time the blog is nothing more than an ad' these days. I tried to jump on the commercial bandwaggon, and while that may work for some, it doesn't work for me. I'm not a good businessman, I've never claimed to be so, but I must be reasonably good at what I do because it makes me a decent income without the need to rely on local advertisers, so I'm going to get back to the one thing I am good at...being me! (That's got half the businesses in Sitges scared shitless!) ;-)
As for my current advertisers, I know some of you are going to give me hell for dropping your ad' when it expires, but don't worry, I won't forget you. I'll still give you all mentions. There's plenty of days I get up in the morning and can't for the life of me think what to write here, so that's where you'll each get remembered. (Some don't expire 'till the end of this year anyway)
PS. I'll reply to each of you that sent me an email, today.
SITGES
GAY
PRIDE
2010
May 23rd.
All go for Pride Sitges in 2010
As I briefly mentioned yesterday, plans for Gay Pride Sitges in 2010 are underway. Its planned to have at least 15 to 20 floats in its first year. Provisionally its hoped to have it in early July in 2010 and maybe change that to May or June in following years as it becomes well established. It will most likely run along the seafront. It is not planed to be an extension of Pride Barcelona but to be a completely seperate entity. Personally we think its a fantastic idea and something Sitges has needed for many years. As more news becomes available we'll tell you about it.
Sitges May 22nd.
Each to their own.
The blog is a little personal today, not that it usually isn't, but rightly or wrongly, I've come to the conclusion, with some input from others, that I should continue as I've always done - that is to do this guide and forget about who thinks what about who, as I've got a bit wrapped up in lately. I'm getting tired of being dictated to how I should run this web site, which I don't do either for the good or bad of Sitges, but do because I like doing it.
So, what I'm trying to say is, GaySitges.com is my hobby, it is not a business driven web site. All I'm interested in is telling you what is happening in Sitges, nothing more!
I don't care if I have advertisers or not - In fact, I have decided today that I am not going to...(continued)
Piano (No large image) May 21st.
Piano Bar opening date.
The Piano Bar is to open earlier than previously anticipated, on Tuesday May 26th at 9pm, with an opening party on Thursday the 28th.
We've moved into a lovely warm spell, with yesterday being the warmest day of the year so far at 26ºC and last night's low only going down to 20ºC.
Renfe train station taxi rank moved. It is now to the right as you come out of the train station, on the street behind the Mercadona supermarket.
Barcelona Gay Pride May 20th.

Even more exciting, they'll be talking about Sitges Pride 2010.
We'll tell you all about it on Friday.
Meeting Agenda (In Spanish).
Beware of Pick Pockets May 19th.
Beware!
This is not something I like putting on this web site, but is something that we all need reminding of from time to time...
Sitges is a tourist town, and like all tourist towns, it also attracts its fair share of pick pockets. I'm mentioning this today because I've heard of 3 people who've been had in the last couple of weeks. If you are going out for a drink, don't take anything with you except the money you'll spend. If you are a little drunk, you are a prime target. Same applies if you go cruising on the beach. Your trousers around your ankles is the perfect opportunity for someone to get into your pockets. During the day, keep your valuables in your front pockets and never leave them on a table in a café. A favorite trick is for one person to make a noise or do something to get your attention, while an accomplice slips in to grab your stuff as you look away. Be especially wary of anyone who approaches you in the street trying to sell you something and of kids with clip-boards.
BoyBerry May 18th.
BoyBerry.
BoyBerry is a popular hang out in Barcelona which contains a labyrinth for cruising, cubicles, dark room, glory holes, video, ciber centre, chill out area and a shop, selling gay DVDs, toys, pride goodies etc. Best of all, an all day pass is only 6€.

On the subject of Barcelona, as we seem to be a lot this week, we now have a map of the route the parade will take on GayBarcelona.com's home page.

The re-opening of the Piano bar has been delayed until early June.........................
Oh dear! Poor old Spain came in last but one in the Eurovision Song Contest.
This week's Jigsaw of Sitges is up.
Cocaine May 16th.
Cocaine is in the air.
So I see in the news, air quality tests have revealed Cocaine in the air in Barcelona and Madrid
Researches have found minute traces of cocaine, heroin and cannabis in the air of the two Spanish cities. Scientists tested the air in Madrid and Barcelona for drugs and found traces of five, with cocaine the highest. The experiment was carried out by researchers from the CSIC, the Superior Council for Scientific Investigation, with the Catalan Institute for Research into Water and CIEMAT, the Centre for Technological, Environmental and Energy Research. Tests across several points of the two cities concluded that the air contains cocaine, heroin and cannabis.

Gay Pride Barcelona May 15th.
Sitges Pride in Barcelona.
A meeting was held last night, which many of the local gay businesses were invited to, to show support for entering a float promoting Sitges in the Barcelona Gay Pride parade this year. A further meeting will be held next Thursday at 6pm at XXL.
Unfortunately we couldn't get to it because a large part of Sitges was cordoned off at the same time, due to a gas leak and we couldn't get parked until it was too late, and although I have the details of last night from someone else, I'd rather wait and give them to you first hand after next Thursday's meeting.

Star Trek May 12th.
Star Trek.
If you're as big a Star Trek fan as I am, you are in for one helluv a treat when you see the new movie. The attention to detail is nothing short of superb and hmmm, is James Tiberius Kirk ever hot in his 20's. I could ramble on a lot about how brilliantly its put together, but I don't want to give anything away. Go see it!
Of course, you'll have to take a little trip over to the UK for that, 'cos it ain't in Sitges yet.
On the subject of the silver screen, though actually this is on the plasma screen, next Saturday is of course the Eurovision Song Contest, and although its not confirmed yet, Cafè Sitges are hoping to screen it. I'll let you know the moment they know.

Sitges High Season (No large image) May 5th.
Start of season.
Today, May 5th is traditionally the start of the 100 high season days in Sitges. Most places are now open every night and those that aren't, start very soon. Despite fears of the crisis taking its toll this year, its still looking like it is going to be a good year. Certainly everywhere I went on Saturday night was heaving, and I did the rounds.
